The Giants went big. Again. It was just the wrong way.
I tried to look for the positive take-aways, but I came up with mostly negatives.
There were four three-up. three-down innings. But it was when the Giants were at the plate. Runs were scored in six innings. But they were mostly Reds runs.
Our rookie pitcher struggled, our bullpen didn’t fare much better.
Our rookie third baseman/shortstop left the game early after fouling a ball off his foot.
The Mercy Rule doesn’t apply in MLB.
I could go on and on, but the bottom line is this: Giants 2, Reds 14.
So here’s what I decided. Pack all this up, put it in a box and send it to the ends of the earth. It’s over. We don’t want it back. We don’t even want to talk about it again.
Let’s talk about tomorrow. It’s a Johnny Cueto start. And it’s Johnny Cueto’s old ballpark. Do you think we stand a chance?
Doesn’t matter—we’re Giants fans.
On a happy note, it’s the Say Hey Kid’s birthday. Let’s all wish him the best.
