The Giants took on the AL champs Cleveland Indians again at the Indians ST facility, Goodyear Ballpark. When I wrote about the game info in Monday’s blog, the only information I had was the game would be audio broadcast on MLB.com and video broadcast on the Indians network, Sports Time Ohio. Turns out the powers-that-be surprised me with an MLB Network broadcast. Who knew? I bet every dang one of you did and didn’t think to mention it. That’s ok, I found out when I turned on a TV.
Good thing I did, too. The Giants were up first and were all about the extra base hit. Eduardo Nunez led off with a double and advanced to third on Kelby Tomlinson’s fly out. Brandon Belt dug in and hit a double, scoring Nunez. Jarrett Parker impressed us with a two-run HR. Aaron Hill was good for another double and Justin Ruggiano brought him home with another two-run homer.
Nunez hit a single in the third and Tomlinson moved him over when he reached on a force attempt fielding error by the Indians shortstop. Belt plated Nunez with a sac fly.
The Giants took a six run lead into the bottom of the second, but the Indians scored a couple of runs off Alberto Suarez, narrowing the lead to four runs. They scored another run in the fourth off Kyle Crick and another two in the seventh off Sam Coonrod. And although the Giants didn’t score any more runs, we kept the lead.
The final score was: Giants 6, Indians 5
Wednesday the Giants are scheduled to host the Anaheim Angels in Scottsdale, our ST facility. Game time is set for 1:05 pm with our big lefty, Madison Bumgarner, on the mound. Promises to be a good game. Oh, and just so you know, the broadcast info says the game will be on TV on the MLB network. The guide on my TV has it scheduled. I heard it will also be on the radio at MLB.com, too. If you hear differently, how about a holler?
