There was some good news before the games started. The Giants were playing the Arizona Diamondbacks at the Talking Stick Salt Water Taffy whattayamacallit Field where the DBacks play. Who cares what they named their field? The point is–they have TV!! I felt like it was the 60’s and I was going over to the neighbors to watch Laugh-In because they had color TV.
It was fun to watch, especially when Gregor Blanco was the first up for the Diamondbacks. He smoked the ball for a triple and I was dancing up and down cheering for him before I remembered. Oh yeah, he’s a Snake now.
The Giants scored a run in the third–Justin Ruggiano was hit by a pitch to lead off the inning and scored on Gorkys Hernandez‘s line drive RBI double–but that was the only run the Giants put on the board. Arizona scored 5 runs total, 2 runs on 5 hits off Ty Blach in 2⅔ innings and 3 runs on 7 hits and 1 walk off Clayton Blackburn in 2⅔ innings.
The final score was: Giants 1, Arizona 5
It was one of those “be careful what you wish” for things. I think it would have been less painful if I had not watched it live. What’s done is done.
The Cincinnati game was better. Oh Cincinnati had us on the ropes a few times, but the Giants managed to nibble away at their lead. The Giants staged a nice comeback. That would have been the game to watch.
The final score was: Giants 9, Reds 7
Sunday the Giants take on the DBacks again, this time at the Giants ST home. Matt Moore is scheduled to start at 1:05 pm. The only bad news is the DBacks aren’t bringing their TV stuff with them.
