First, an update on Giants 1st base coach, Jose Alguacil. He’s recovering nicely and sent out a tweet thanking everyone:

Man, that was a long streak for the Giants–eight games the wrong way, but it’s over. All it took was facing the reigning AL Champs–the Cleveland Indians.
Matt Cain pitched three and a third, allowing two runs on two hits and a walk. He struck out two. Ty Blach followed with two and two-thirds scoreless, giving up three hits and striking out two. Derek Law continues to impress–he struck out two of the three batters he faced. Hunter Strickland finished it off, with a little help from the defense with a nicely turned double play.
The Indians tied it up in the fourth, but the Giants pulled ahead in the seventh after Blanks smacked a triple to right and scored on Kelby Tomlinson‘s sac fly.
The final score was: Giants 3, Indians 2
I followed the game and kept score all on my laptop today. Everything seemed to work ok, but my At Bat app stalled in a couple of places. I was listening on the app though, as Doug Greenwald called the game. At one point he announced they were calling the game from Stockton, but quickly corrected to Scottsdale. I sent a tweet saying I “wish they were here in Stockton” which got me an honorable mention and my tweet read on the radio.
For those who didn’t hear it, you missed my 15 minutes of fame.
The Giants play the Dodgers Tuesday. Game time is 12:05 pm with Matt Moore on the mound facing Clayton Kershaw. I’m looking forward to it–or should I say keeping my ears open? It’s another radio broadcast and if it’s another Doug Greenwald broadcast, give him a shout out tweet to @dougout04. And get ready for your close-up.
