The Giants lost. Again. I keep saying it doesn’t count, so why do I keep counting? Good question. Like Kevin Costner says in For the Love of the Game, “we count everything.” It’s habit.
File this under more bad news, for me anyway. I live in a house that has a hostile technical environment. Nothing seemed to work today–my At Bat apps didn’t work on my iPad, my iPhone and it wouldn’t even load on my laptop today. Come on, that’s just ridiculous.
Fortunately, a fellow Giants fan, Brian Peters, left a message on my post yesterday–he said if I can get Fox Sports San Diego broadcast, the game will be on TV. Yay! I checked it out on my MLB.TV app on Apple TV, and sure enough, there it was. I watched the whole thing. It was great to see the plays in real time. I just have one question–my MLB.TV app and my At Bat app are all part of the same subscription. Why would one work and the other not? I need a tech savvy third grader to help me.
The Giants were actually moving through this game at a nice clip and we had the Padres on the ropes for a couple of innings. The third inning was the Giants best inning.
That’s when Joe Panik hit a single–he’d already doubled and scored in the first–and advanced to third on Brandon Crawford‘s double. Chris Marrero plated Panik and Crawford with a two RBI single–it would have been a double, but oops! he fell. Conor Gillaspie drew a walk and Mac Williamson was hit by a pitch, loading the bases. Nick Hundley drew a walk, bringing Gillaspie home. Then the Padres switched pitchers and put an end to the Giants big inning.
The Padres caught up to the Giants in the fourth, went ahead in the sixth and piled on in the seventh when former Giant Hector Sanchez kicked off a rally with a two-out walk.
The final score was: Giants 5, Padres 9
Big game tomorrow–you don’t want to miss it–the Giants play the Dodgers at 5:05 pm. Matt Cain is on the mound and the game will be on CSNBA. The game is also scheduled to be on the MLB Network, but I’m hopeful that it will be Kruk and Kuip on CSNBA, and it will feel like real baseball.
I just hope nothing goes wrong because if my TV doesn’t work tomorrow? I wouldn’t want to be an employee of the cable company. I’m mad as hell and I’m not going to take it anymore.
