Ok, maybe only half-way disappointed. After all, we split a series with the Cardinals. At least we weren’t swept. I’m trying to keep a glass half-full frame of mind.
We were, however, shut out. I just want to say my side comment the other day about Buster Posey being the spark that starts the fire–ok that’s not how I said it, but it’s what I meant–may have a little more to it than I originally thought. He wasn’t in the game Sunday and the Giants didn’t score. Do you think Buster’s presence in the line up is the key to a win? It’s possible.
Albert Suarez pitched a good game. He gave up two runs on five hits and one walk. He struck out two. Cory Gearrin was lights out in relief, striking out five of six, with one flyout, and Matt Cain pitched for a hit–Yadier Molina poked a hit into left field, but got picked off at second–and a couple of strike outs in the ninth. A new closer maybe? He’s available and he’s breathing–he qualifies. The final score was:
Giants 0, Cardinals 3
The Mets have passed us up for the first Wild Card spot and the Cardinals are breathing down our necks for the second spot. The only good news Sunday: The DBacks beat the Dodgers–it went into extra innings–with a walk off in the 12th.
Monday we face off with the Boys in Blue at Chavez Ravine. The Game starts at 7:10 pm on CSN-BA and KNBR 680. Tune in. It’s a Bumgarner start. I like our chances. Don’t Stop Believing.

I do hope Brian O’Nora–the umpire who left the game in the bottom of the second after taking a foul ball in the face mask off Hunter’s bat–is ok. We’ve had a couple of injuries this series to people just doing their job–the security guard who break his leg the other night chasing the idiot who decided to take a run in the outfield and now this umpire–baseball can be dangerous!
