Up, down, up, down. I’m getting queasy and it’s way beyond Dramamine now.
Another Giants loss, this time added to Matt Moore’s personal pitching stats. The good news is he pitched a good game. The bad news is it got off to a rocky start. Giancarlo Stanton broke his bat on a run scoring double. Still, it really wasn’t a bad start, even though two runs scored in the bottom of the first. Moore pitched six innings and gave up two runs, three hits, five walks and struck out seven.
There wasn’t really any other good news except Bochy’s return to the dugout after being treated overnight at a Miami hospital for an irregular heartbeat. He watched Monday’s game from a wildly different point of view than his usual spot in the dugout. In a post Tuesday, Giants Insider Alex Pavlovic wrote on CSNBayArea.com: “He said the hospital bed brought a different perspective, and he enjoyed watching.”
The Giants got three hits total in Tuesday’s game, but the Marlins held them scoreless. The final score was:
Giants 0, Marlins 2
You feel the cool breeze on the back of your neck? Sure. It’s because the Dodgers are no longer breathing down it. They’ve pulled up even and now we’re in an arm wrestling contest for the NL West. We have 49 games left. With 64 wins, we need to make more than half of them count.
I’m not giving up. We know the Giants have what it takes to make it. We just need a few more games like Monday’s. All I know is we need the roller coaster ride to come to a stop. Raise the safety bar. It’s time to step off.
Wednesday’s game starts at 9:10 am and will be on CSN-BA and KNBR 680. The Shark is on the mound, who better to go after Marlins? Join the fun Facebook group SF Giants Game Time Thread & Chat. Breakfast and baseball. It doesn’t get any better. Follow the link:
