I’m disappointed. I’m heading toward discouraged and if I’m not careful, I’ll slide all the way down to disheartened. If I feel this way, can you imagine how our Giants feel? Dismayed? Disillusioned? Enough with the alliteration. We’ve got a team to encourage and inspire.
How, you might ask, can we do that? By doing what we do. Not for nothing–Bochy calls us the 26th man. Let’s start acting like it. If you’re at the Yard, it’s your job to make some noise. Get loud. Make some signs. Win or lose, let them know you’re there. Together we’re Giant–it’s true.
Don’t stop believing. Tweet the Giants you follow. Post to the Giants Facebook page. Stop complaining about the Giants. The first rule about being a Giants fan? Don’t badmouth the guys. Much like the wave, it just isn’t done.
Thursday’s game was disappointing. We didn’t win. Dusty Baker rode into town with his Nationals and their pitcher came through in the clutch. He pitched a good game and we let some opportunities get by. We scored a run in the second when Buster Posey reached on a double and scored on Conor Gillaspie’s ground out. The ninth inning was good old fashioned Giants torture, but at least it gave us some energy. The bases were loaded and one run scored, but after that the Nats reliever shut us down. The final score was:
Giants 2, Nationals 4
BTW–no consolation prize, the Dodgers didn’t play today. Only chipped half a game off our lead.
Guess what? It’s baseball. It’s also ancient history. Tomorrow is another day. Let’s put this one behind us and get our Orange on for Friday.
Friday’s game starts at 7:15 pm and will be on NBC Bay Area and KNBR 680. Jeff Samardzija is pitching. We’ve got a shark patrolling the cove. Let’s hope he’s hungry.
