I’m channeling my inner-Snoopy and I’m gathering all my optimism to concentrate on today’s game.
I don’t care that the Dodgers lost last night too. I know they were shutout and we at least scored one run, but that still doesn’t help. We’re playing the A’s! These aren’t the “Swingin’ A’s” from the early ’70’s, these are the 4th in their division 2016 A’s and we should beat them at least once.
Last night’s game was a shamble–Jake Peavy was pitched a good game, but poor defense caused a lot of problems in the third and fourth, allowing the A’s to score seven runs (four earned). There was even an on-field collision-with another Giant-that left Ramiro Pena limping.
Our bats weren’t very helpful, either. Brandon Belt drew a walk in the eighth, advanced to second when Buster Posey singled, moved to third on a wild pitch and scored on Brandon Crawford’s sac fly, scoring our only run for the game. The final score was:
Giants 1, A’s 7
Today’s our redemption day. Madison Bumgarner is on the mound. I know we’re limping and we’re playing with a bunch of AAA’ers, but they’ve shown good stuff in the past. We can do this. I’m praying to the baseball gods for a win today. I’ll even sacrifice a troll doll.
