The Giants did it again. Swept–this time it was the Rays at their home park.
The Rays scored first, in the first inning no less, but Brandon Belt wasn’t having it. He hit a solo home run in the fourth to tie the game. The game stayed tied until the eighth–and the Giants got offensive, again. No, they weren’t making rude comments or swearing (they might have been, but we didn’t hear it!), they weren’t obnoxious or vulgar–they were just swinging their bats.
Single, sac bunt, single–score!–walk, single–score!–double–double score! The Giants played Giants-style in the eighth, moving the line along and it paid off. It started with Gregor Blanco’s single and ended with Connor Gillaspie’s 2 RBI double–and according to Kuip, the kid needed that.
Jake Peavy was the starting pitcher and he was good. He gave up the run in the first inning, but after that he battled the Rays and didn’t allow another run to score. He gave up one run, four hits and one walk, while striking out eight. Great day for Peavy, but of course, he left the game when it was tied, so another ND for Peavy. The final score was:
Giants 5, Rays 1
We’ve won eight in a row, and today we are playing in Pittsburgh where the Pirates will attempt to plunder our streak. Lucky for us we have our Ace at the helm. Game time is 4:05 pm and you can watch on CSN-BA or hear it on KNBR 680.
