SF Giants Shark lands Marlins

Giants pitcher Jeff Samardzija runs the bases after a hit.

I like Jeff Samardzija. He’s only been a Giant for a few months, but already it seems like he’s been a Giant forever. He fits in well with the rest of the team. Not only that–he’s the Shark.

Last night the Shark went fishing in McCovey Cove and landed a bunch of Marlins.

Samardzija was brilliant on the mound–in 7.2 innings pitched he allowed one run, six hits and he struck out five. He was amazing at the plate too–he drove in three runs on two hits, a single and a double. I think he’s trying to give Madison Bumgarner a little competition for the best-hitting pitcher.

Happy Giants—Angel Pagan, Denard Span and Hunter Pence celebrate last night’s victory. You can tell Span is in the middle because you can see his shoes, not his face.

The really good news–the Giants bats woke up. They scored three runs in the first, three runs in the fifth, and two more in the sixth. Giants style–small ball. The Giants looked good last night. They played like the champions they are. The final score was:
Giants 8, Marlins 1

Fish dinner on a Friday night and it’s not even Lent. The only thing that could top last night’s win is another win tonight. We’ve got Jake Peavy on the mound and the game starts at 6:05 pm. You can watch on CSN, or listen on KNBR 680.

Either way, bait your hook–it’s time to go fishing again.
