I was a little under the weather myself, so not only did I NOT write about yesterday afternoon’s match against Oakland, I didn’t even get to watch much of it. At least Bumgarner is feeling better, and that’s the important thing.
I will say this: the small part of Saturday’s game I managed to see was just like previous night’s game versus the Padres–a lop-sided, high scoring game with one team racking up hits and home runs. The only problem? The guys racking up the hits and runs were wearing the wrong uni’s.
Madison Bumgarner was on the mound for the Giants, and while I’m not really sure what happened out there Saturday, I know this: we can count on Bumgarner to figure out what the problem is and fix it. No doubt in my mind.
There is some good news–Bumgarner felt good out there, according to a post written by Mike Bauman from MLB.com. Bauman wrote that manager Bruce Bochy said Bumgarner “looked fine…his command wasn’t real sharp…but he got his work in…it was a good workout.” Bauman also reported that Bumgarner threw 60 pitches, 40 for strikes.
He’s just got to keep practicing, that’s all there is to it. After the dust settled, the final score was:
Giants 1, Padres 9
There is nothing I like better than Sunday baseball. Whaddya say we kick back, relax and enjoy today’s game when the Giants are take on the Rockies. Clayton Blackburn will be on the hill for the Giants, with a 1:10 pm scheduled start. You can hear the game on KNBR 680.
