The opening game in a 3 game series between the GIANTS and the Brewers took place last night at Miller Park in Milwaukee. The GIANTS are playing in the childhood backyard of our unwitting leader–Duane Kuiper.
Tim Lincecum was on the bump last night for the GIANTS, with the rookie–Andrew Susac–was behind the plate. Lincecum pitched 7 innings–giving up 7 hits, 3 runs and 1 walk, while striking out 8. Jean Machi pitched 2 innings–and gave up 1 hit, 1 run, walked 1 hitter, and struck out 2.
The Brewers scored 2 runs in the 3rd and 1 in the 5th. The GIANTS got on board in the 6th when Panik led-off with a base hit. Belt followed with a double, moving Panik over to 3rd. The Panda came to the plate and on an 0-2 count, Duane Kuiper said the magic words that every GIANTS fan wants to hear: “line drive to right, Braun baaack, IT IS OUTTAHERE!!! and this game is tied. The Panda does it again…” After 6, the score was:
The Brewers scored a solo HR in the 7th. The GIANTS weren’t able to score again, but they did not go quietly into that good night–they went down fighting. The final score was:
GIANTS 3, Brewers 4
Here’s what I say: skip the Miller–let’s grab some Buds. At least until we play St. Louis.
