Sounds like a law firm. Need to sue someone? Call Pence and Panik. But, better yet–need to score some runs? Call Pence and Panik. Hey, let’s face it–together they are GIANT.
A few weeks ago, fans christened the top of the GIANTS line-up the “Killer P’s.” Pagan, Pence, Posey, Pablo. Yesterday the top of the line-up introduced a new “Killer P”–rookie 2nd baseman Joe Panik. Hunter Pence was the lead-off hitter followed by Joe Panik and together they packed a 1-2 punch that was a sight for this old GIANTS fan’s tired eyes.
BTTJ–Big Time Timmy Jim–pitched a helluva game. He went 6.1 innings, gave up 3 hits, 1 run, 4 walks and struck out 4.
Pence got the ball rolling with a lead-off double in the top of the 1st. Belt got an RBI base hit, plating Pence. Pence got a base hit in the top of the 3rd and Panik followed with an RBI double. Morse hit an RBI single, scoring Panik, but was left on base when the inning was over. Neither team scored in the 4th, 5th, or 6th. After 6, the score was:
GIANTS 3, Padres 0
The Padres scored 1 run in the bottom of the 7th. Pence led-off the 8th with a base hit and Panik followed with another base hit. Belt got Pence home with a SAC fly and Panik scored on Sanchez’s RBI double. The Padres scored 2 more runs in the bottom of the 8th. Casilla closed the game with a shut down 9th inning. The final score was:
GIANTS 5, Padres 3
Tonight the GIANTS are back in the ‘hood with a game at the O.Co against the winningest team in the MLB. Here’s what I have to say to the Swingin’ A’s: don’t get too comfy, just a few short weeks ago, that was us.
